For three (3) straight years, artistes from Kintampo (centre of Ghana) who have decided to join the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) are unable to get a membership card. This particular incident has kept a lot of stars indoors and within the outskirts of the town.
The opportunity only came today when the Chairman of Musiga for Brong Ahafo paid a visit to the newly established Kintampo Musician Union founded by DJ Osokoo. During the meeting, the Chairman was quizzed as to the reason for the delay of cards paid for by some section of artistes.
The chairman explained that indeed J Black (main organizer of Brong Ahafo Music Awards, BAMA) came for some forms to register his town folks but he never had any money from J Black to process the forms. He therefore advised the artistes to go for their monies from him.
He also explained the need for artistes to join the Musicians Union of Ghana and it’s related groups.
This is how the musiga Chairman said it during the meeting:
During the meeting, the artistes were also advised to come together to fight for their survival in the music industry. Kintampo is not only known for it’s tourist attractions but also embedded with some of the brilliant music stars in the municipality. This is the only unprecedented event in Kintampo where artistes have decided to come together and showcase their talents.
